Calling all local aspiring and/or independent Writers and/or Artists! A brand new fiction-based zine is coming to town in December, and we need your help! We are looking for creative, interesting, quality artwork in the form of words and images to publish and distribute around town! (Some of the businesses who have already agreed to carry our zine are Boo Radley's, The Blvd, and Hot Topic, and we intend on adding many more before our first December issue!) At the moment, we are asking for volunteer submissions only. However, as we grow, we plan to begin paying our best and regular artists and writers beginning in the spring. Submission Guidelines: For Writing: *Poetry or fiction shorts only, please. We may begin printing non-fiction articles in the future, but for now we are fiction only. Any genre will be considered. *All writing must be no more than 500 words long -- we are still a very small zine. *PLEASE submit only your best work. Any writing that is unacceptable in grammar and/or spelling will be rejected without being read. (Save if creative grammar is being used on purpose, I.E. poetry stanza breaks or accented dialogue.) *For purposes of the intended style of our first issue, please submit writing in your own handwriting, not typed, on unlined paper. If your own handwriting is not legible, please have a friend or family member copy it for you. Any submissions that are submitted in type will be filed away for a later issue or rejected, according to quality. For Visual Artwork: *Please send only copies of your original works. We will not be held responsible for the loss or mishandling of originals. *For the purposes of our first issue, note that your artwork will be printed in black and white. Keep this in mind when submitting. We will be printing in color at a later date. *We are in need of stylized borders and filigrees for filler, as well. If we use any of your borders or filigrees more than once, you will be paid in an amount agreed upon by you and us. *Any style and genre will be considered. However, please refrain from offensive, exceedingly violent, or pornographic images. These will be rejected instantly. ALL submissions used will be protected for copyright via documentation signed by both the zine and the artist/writer.
